When you plan your tipi event, you will be thinking very carefully about the venue in which the tipis are pitched.
While they are adaptable and versatile there are some things you need to take into account when looking for a venue.
The first consideration is the size of the venue – depending on the configuration of tipis you have chosen, the site needs to be a minimum size. And, while we’re here, although it might seem obvious, the main area for the tipis needs to be free of trees and other vegetation and reasonably flat. We also need good access to get all the kit into the site.
But, on to more exciting things!
You might also want to think about which way the set up faces. This will depends slightly on the layout and other structures on the site but you could also consider the time of day of your event and the time of year. On a sunny day (and aren’t all weddings on sunny days?) it is wonderful to have the open area in front of the tipis facing where the sun will go down. As your event turns from the more formal part of the day into the less formal evening event this will provide the perfect setting for you and your friends.
If your event is in the grounds of a hall or house have a think about where you will approach the tipis from and what will be in the photos. Is there a space for a walkway up to the tipis?
In terms of general location, the tipis look lovely in a rural setting, with trees and bushes around the outskirts. We have also had a number of set ups in the grounds of large houses and stately homes. If your family home has the room for tipis, this could be a great location for your event – not only do you not have to hire it, but the personal connection cannot be replicated.
On more mundane matters – can your guests easily get to, and find, the location? Is there adequate parking? Is there reasonable access to cars during the day for people who need to change etc? Are there enough local places for everyone to stay somewhere, should they want to? Have you made sure that elderly people or anyone bringing children has the facilities they might need? Both the venue itself and the tipi company can help you with all of these concerns and give you information of other suppliers who will be able to work with you to design your event.
Here at The Natural Tent Company we partner with a number of locations to help you choose the place that suits your event best – from large country houses like Beaumont Hall, to rural outdoors areas like Rushmore Country Park, you can find the best setting for whatever style best suits the day you want to hold and remember for the rest of your life.
