As well as preparing for next season, the team here at The Natural Tent Company has spent some time reflecting on the season just gone. We all love to make sure your events are perfect and while getting everything ready for you we are often too busy to stop and reflect, so now is the perfect time to do that.
We asked the team to share their memories of the season.
One of our team recalls the time we were asked to provide vegan friendly ‘sheepskins’, which is clearly something of a challenge! The sheepskin rugs we supply are warm and soft but obviously not vegan. The bride and her party were all vegan.
We are delighted to say that we managed the situation well and kept everyone happy, so adding another string to our bow. We are happy to host people from any background or belief in our tipis and we are always learning!
The Day of the Pigeon
Being outside all day to set up tipis can have its interesting moments. This particular day we were stalked by a pigeon.
Obviously we are used to a bit of wildlife but this was something new – this pigeon definitely had its eye on us. Or – our lunch!
Every time we took a break, there he was. On the van, on the awnings, hopping along the ground. We shooed him away but he never stayed away very long. And was always observing us with his beady eye.
We felt a sort of affinity with him after a while and he did, in fact, get a bit of some lunch. We’re all heart here at The Natural Tent Company.
The Secret Garden
We all enjoy a bit of mystery and here at The Natural Tent Company we are no different. This client hired us to set up tipis for a surprise birthday party. Who doesn’t love a surprise?
Well, trying to erect tipis in secret does add a certain frisson to proceedings; it’s not an easy process to hide. We even had to engage in a bit of skulduggery to get the survey done. Sneaking around a garden, behind bushes, trying to measure up and get a good gauge of the area was hilarious.
What was even funnier was having to sidle in the back gate with all our extensive kit and keep out of sight of the house. Luckily the birthday boy was out for the morning but we still had to be on our toes, the last thing we wanted was to spoil the revelation. It wasn’t just us either – there were several other suppliers in on the act and we all had to work fast and furious to be ready in the short time the guest of honour was away from home.
Imagine the surprise of being led into your own garden to find it full of eight meter tall tipis! We can confirm the whole event went brilliantly and was a total surprise.
Where All Your Dreams are…….Caught!
One adorable bride and groom wanted us to hang dream catchers for them. We are always happy to help you make your event personal to you. Dream catchers are beautiful and unique and this was a first for us, but we were more than willing!
We put our best guy on the job and hung a number of dream catchers around the tipi space, from large oak trees. We are confident that everyone who attended the wedding had only great dreams that night.
Thanks for reading from all of us at The Natural Tent Company.
